Perth: What Matters to You?

Western Australian of the Year, David Flanagan, spoke about “What Matters in WA” at the awards ceremony on Saturday. Now, what matters to you in South Perth?
You are invited to tell our community, the Council, Government and others about your ideas for South Perth, your suggestions, your concerns and what can be done. This is an Open Space event, with unrestricted topics. There’s another page about how Open Space works (click for details).
You are invited to be part of a discussion about what really matters in South Perth. We’ll begin with a blank agenda; you set the topics. With your passion and with your solutions, things will happen.
Please "Share" or “Forward” this event to bring your friends too. I’d really appreciate it if you could RSVP to let me know you are coming, preferably on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/228677680675385/, or by email, or in Comments, below.
We’ll all be at South Perth Community Hall, corner South Terrace and Sandgate Road, South Perth at 7:00 p.m.on Thursday 26 June 2014.

This is fantastic Pete, congratulations

Really impressed with the 'what matters in WA' segue from the WA person of the year to 'what matters to you south perth' -- nice !

Chat soon about getting a good turn up and encouraging people with 'wicked' topics to pitch them…

Cheers

Hi Peter,

How in the hell can we let them re-name South Perth to something else? I cannot believe that the residents and business operators will let this happen.

Can the people of SP not stop this from happening? Surely we the rate payers have a right to have a say in this proposed change, and not just a competition to pick one of the nemes someone has come up with.

I don't want to live in Southlands or Two Rivers. I bought into South Perth. Surely it should have to go to a referendum for something like this to happen. Is this not a democratic country where we can all have a say and not have a change forced on us by some idiot who doesn't even live in the suburb?

Can all the Lawyers living and working in SP not prevent this from happening?

We voted the council and the Mayor in to do a good job for us and they are failing miserably. If this was put to every rate payer, there would be a resounding NO.

Is there nothing short of a revolt to prevent this huge mistake from happening? Think of all the un-necessary costs associated with the change.

By all means, drop the "City of", but why can't we just stay South Perth. Why do we need these changes to our life.

I agree with your great list of what is needed in a person in any public office- we need to change as you have clearly laid out, so we can work together, harmoniously, being open to change, listening and being prepared to alter our views, being flexible and a team member.

Congratulations on being so coherent, and positive in your thoughts.
